Do I need an out of province inspection in Alberta?
Yes. A vehicle registered outside Alberta must pass an out-of-province inspection before Alberta licence plates are issued. A few vehicles are exempt under conditions published by the Government of Alberta - call us and we can tell you whether yours likely qualifies before you book.
How much is an out of province inspection in Alberta?
Alberta does not set a fixed price. Each licensed inspection facility sets its own fee and must post it in plain sight. Call us at (780) 477-9888 for our current inspection and re-inspection pricing. The inspection fee is separate from any repairs needed to pass.
What will fail an out of province inspection in Alberta?
Your vehicle must be within the manufacturer’s service limits. The most common failures we see are worn brakes and tires, cracked or chipped windshields in the driver’s view, suspension and steering play, exhaust leaks, burnt-out lights, and rust affecting structural areas. Technicians follow Alberta’s Automotive and Light Truck Inspection Manual.
How long does an out of province inspection take?
The Government of Alberta notes an out-of-province inspection varies by schedule and workload. We recommend booking ahead so we can set aside a bay and get you through in one visit.
